I’m back from my break (or I’m just out of my laziness) and I will be posting a lot more soon!

What I want to see in Windows 7

1. An internet connection tray icon that show you the signal strength if your on wifi.
*2. Implement UAC in a more elegant way. Having it pop up when your changing the time or parental controls can get annoying.
*3. Being able to Rearrange tray icons. It handy and can be more productive to Rearrange tray icons.
*4. Have a consumer version, business version with specific business apps but not apps like Movie maker,media center etc and a Server version.
5. Multiple desktops. Productivity goes up with virtual desktops. A hint for Microsoft is to look at spaces
6. Better start menu. I feel Microsoft has yet to succeed in a good start menu design.
*7. Backup software. Sure they have shadow copies but you can only get that now in vista business and ultimate. It should also be very simple and user friendly.
*8.Built in screen capture. Not just the full screen capture but an actual application with features like selecting windows and regions of your desktop.
*9. Better accessibility controls like better on screen narration or zooming.
10. Improve paint. Having a good image editing program built into an OS is always helpful.
*11. Make it easier to use the search feature and make it faster.
*12. Some office sweet included. It doesn’t have to be office but a simple word processor and presentation software like on open office would be nice built in.
*13. Better virus protection. Face it, Windows and every other OS will have viruses. Microsoft could include better protection then just Defender. Although Vista is already much more secure than xp, a better protection app would be nice.
*14. Get rid of sidebar and add something new. I’m sure a lot of people don’t want a big black gradient on the side of there desktop.
*15. Make all of the “Windows” applications much better. By windows applications I mean windows movie maker, windows DVD maker etc. They have potential if more features are added. Microsoft could replace Photo gallery and mail with the live versions but still call them Windows Photo Gallery and Mail.
16. Improve media player with a new UI. The current Windows media player UI is very un-friendly to me. I think that’s what it needs to be a decent app.
17. Improved speed optimization.
18. More Energy efficient.
*19. Smaller OS. The OS doesn’t have to be drastically smaller in 7,this is something that as time progresses can gradually happen.
20. Better setup assistant. The setup should simple short and easy.
21. No registration. Self explanatory.  
*22. Make Areo more energy efficient. Its beautiful but its the equivalent of a gas guzzler, it sucks the battery life out of you laptop.
*23. System wide spell check. Self explanatory.
24. IE 8 should be faster. Its really a suggestion for IE in general but its a feature of Windows so its okay to mention.
*25. Music editing program. You never know when you might need to edit or create some music.
26. Chat client. Sure there are good chat clients out there but I bet Microsoft could make a great client built in. It also shouldn’t be live messenger.
27. Better multi core support.
28. Improve graphics. I have seen in vista some graphics that have pixels in the wrong places and may just be bad quality. 
29. Be able to re arrange window box’s in the task bar.
30. Built in .rar extraction support. Many people use .rar and although you can buy WinRAR (I think that’s the name) it would be nice to have a free built in feature.

Safari is unreliable

I was poking around the Reliability and Performance monitor in Windows and I saw that Safari had crashed four times in one day. I went on to see that it had crashed a lot. So I counted how many times it crashed since February 2 to now and I did the same with Firefox (2 and 3) I found that Safari crashed 35 times while Firefox crashed 3. This did not come as much of a surprise because although Safari may be fast its one of the worst Windows Applications ever made.

Windows live writer is a free piece of software from Microsoft that allows you to post to your blog (or blogs) in a desktop environment. It also comes with some other features and works with almost every blog platform. Get it at http://get.live.com/writer/overview

Apple suing Psystar

Apple is finally suing Psystar for Copyright infringement, Breach of contract, Trademark infringement, Trade dress infringement and unfair competition. I say it’s about time. I wonder why they didn’t do it earlier.

Xbox 360 Update

   At E3 Microsoft announced some big updates to its 360 gaming platform. The largest and most noticeable is a Dashboard UI revamp (see the gallery below). The “blade” UI is no longer and now you get a more modern looking UI. You also get an avatar that looks a lot like the Playstations “Home” characters and the Wii’s Mii characters, “I shall call them little Big Mii’s.” There are also some updates to Live. The 3d avatars will be integrated with you GamerCard. Microsoft has also brought Netflix streaming to the 360. Some more improvements include Game hard drive installs, Xbox live marketplace downloads from the web and it will also support 16:10 aspect ratio over VGA or HDMI.

A little Windows tip

One thing that many people don’t do is empty there trash can. But by not doing this the contents in your trash can may take up a lot of precious hard drive space. Just today I looked into my trash can and found that I had hundreds of un deleted items that added up to a surprising100 MB. A good time to empty your trash bin is at night when your going to go to bed and get off the PC.

Is iPhone 3G worth it?

Do you think that the iPhone 3G is worth the price? By that I mean, do you think that its still a good deal even if your paying even more than the original iPhone after all the service plan charges? I personally do but I wouldn’t think the same way if the iPhone 3G did not have the 2.0 software. I also want to ask you are or did you buy an iPhone 3G? I am going to purchase one.
